-“Dave is an incredibly talented sound designer with a great work ethic and positive attitude. I’ve used him on over 10 projects and his work always impresses. His sound design and mix on our ‘Shell Ocean Mapping XPRIZE’ video really took the project to the next level. Dave is my first choice for sound design and mix. My only hesitation in recommending him is that he may be unavailable next time I want to hire him!”

Dave Kebo, XPRIZE - Editor

-“It was such a pleasure working with Dave on "The Funhouse Massacre" He's professional, fast to make adjustments, but the thing I most liked about him was that he is a perfectionist. I always felt that he was trying in every scene to get it perfect without fail. I'd highly recommend him for any job.”

Andy Palmer, Petri Entertainment - Director/Editor

-“Dave has an incredible ear for sound with an imagination to push his skill and surpass expectation. Very professional, dedicated, and always puts extra effort into the job”

Thomas Ferrell, VideoSymphony Head Tech/CCH Head Tech/

Sound Supervisor/Composer

-“Dave Murray is a boss. I would hire him for ANY sound job I need done.”

Sound Design Demo

I cut TRON Legacy down to about 2 and a half minutes and replaced the sound. Most of these sounds I recorded using different techniques (electromagnetic fields, analog synthesizers, etc...). 5.1 mix is available upon request. *Please set to 1080p, use headphones or high quality speakers and TURN IT UP!*

360/VR Ambiasonic Mix

Composer: David Raiklen- "Lights In The Forest Part II - VR" (360 by Michael Henderson)

Please check this out on a VR headset or you can move the screen position around with the mouse. This was done with Two Big Ears FB360 (7.1 to binaural/ambiasonic).  I panned a 5.1 mix to 7.1 for 360 and added some studio verb and room hight/depth. The goal was to be transparent but also put the listener in the studio space.

*Best with headphones*

Electro Magnetic Field Recordings

Some of my field recordings will be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Jamie Fox as Electro. Electro seemed to be a great fit for electro magnetic field sounds.  I'd like to thank Eric A. Norris for the opportunity and also please go to soundworkscollection.com/videos/the-sound-of-man-of-steel and see Eric speak about his fantastic sound design in Man of Steel.

BOEING T-X Animatic

Check out the dog fight at 40 seconds, the music drops out and it's only sound design. It's freeing to work on a blank canvas, as this is completely CGI with no VO. This is on the Boeing YouTube page. Client: Inhance Digital

The Funhouse Massacre (2015)

This hilariously scary flick is a feature film with a 20 theater AMC release. I was lucky enough to be the sound designer and the re-recording mixer (surround, stereo and M&E mix). The trailer is below. I didn't do the sound for the trailer although it does include some of my design. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4483220/

Early Work

April Apocalypse Zombie vocalizations

If you check out the horror comedy April Apocalypse, you'll hear some of my sound editing. I didn't work on this trailer but I'll have a clip from the film up soon! It was a quick 1 day job for all the vocalizations and some other hard FX in the entire feature.

Payday Web Series Episode 2 Directed by Demian Lichtenstein (3000 Miles to Graceland), starring... Lavar Burton, Dash Mihok, Bokeem Woodbine, etc... -Complete Post Sound Package-

This episode has tons of sound FX. There is shooting or fighting almost through the entire episode. This is a great example of my work under a very tight schedule. The FX were cut in one day and then mixed the same night. I was getting new cuts from picture until the last minute and conforming as well... Episode 1 is below - stay tuned for episode 3!

Payday Web Series Episode 1 Directed by Demian Lichtenstein (3000 Miles to Graceland), starring... Lavar Burton, Dash Mihok, Bokeem Woodbine, etc... -Complete Post Sound Package-

The sounds you hear coming from the screens during Bains VO are all 100% original. There's a lot of sound design in this episode. Demian is very much into sound so it gives me room to explore. For the gunshots, I was going for that over the top Indiana Jones sound (but I don't think Ben Burtt had LoAir and that's why he's the man). Stay tuned for episode 2!

Payday Teaser -Complete Post Sound Package-

This teaser is for the upcoming web series that is leading up to the release of Payday 2 the video game. Stay tuned for the series as I am doing all the post sound! I am also recording in game dialog with Overkill Software lead sound desginer in sweden via streaming video. Overkill is an independant game company out of Stockholm.

Agent 88 -Complete Post Sound Package-

It raised more money on kickstarter than any other web series. There's some really great FX shots that gave me some freedom to play with sound in the pilot episode. The Director, Digger T. Mesch, is all abut making things over the top so there's some huge sounds in there. Check out the news spot below...

Atlantis (2011) starring Jason Ritter & Kate French -1st unit Location Sound Mixer-

This independant film was shot and took place during the final space shuttle launch. I was the location sound mixer and had nothing to do with this trailer but I put it up to show what an interesting experience it was to shoot during a launch. I had the opportunity to record the shuttle taking off. It also brought some unexpected variables to the table because there were nearly a million people at the launch.
